2 Nights: The Prom Country Lodge
Park Treks Wilsons Promontory Grand Explorer is a trip that offers such an outstanding opportunity for walkers who are prepared for a more physically challenging walking experience. Our two night stay at the South Point Lighthouse is one of the most memorable experiences on offer in Victoria. So if you have a desire to explore and discover the beauty of Wilsons Promontory and it's remote reaches then this trip offers you an exceptional opportunity.DAY 1We depart from our central pick up at 8.30am aiming for a morning tea break at 10.15am. By around 12.30pm we’ll be arriving into our lodge accommodation at The Prom Country Lodge, just outside of Wilsons Promontory. We’ll serve lunch and get ourselves organised for a 3-hour ramble in the Prom that will see us hopping from one delightful cove to the next and back to our lodgings where we’ll settle in for a healthy and rewarding evening meal. 8 kilometres walkingDAY 2Today we depart for the Lighthouse at the southeastern point of The Prom. You’ll have packed into your backpack clothing for the next 2 days as well as lunch and water for the day’s activity. Park Trek will be taking care of carrying the food for the next 2 evening meals and as well the next 2 lunches and breakfasts. There will be 2 guides accompanying us on the trip. So your pack will weigh in at around 6 – 8 kilograms, by no means an onerous weight but more than you would normally be expected to shoulder. Our walk is straight down the Telegraph Track to the Lighthouse, all 18.5 kilometres of it. We expect to arrive into our accommodation around 5.00pm. Despite the day's journeying your surrounds will inspire you to wander and absorb the beauty of this dramatic area. Everything we need we’ll have with us and there are cosy beds and hot showers. The accommodation here is truly fabulous. 19 kilometres walkingDAY 3Today is a more leisurely approach with plenty of time for you to explore some of the areas hidden nooks. No need to travel very far from home today, the location is the best in the Promontory. Some guests in the past have found themselves sitting overlooking the lighthouse, talking to one another and not realising how much time has elapsed. Then it’s another cheerful evening with good company and good food. DAY 4We make an early start today and farewell our memorable abode at the lighthouse. Today we strike out along the recently constructed South East Coast Track as we head back. Again the views are second to none as we arrive into Little Waterloo Bay for one of the nicest lunch spots in the Prom. We’ll return to the coach around 4.30pm having covered 23 kms. We now depart the Prom for our final night's abode at The Prom Country Lodge. Along with your fellow walkers you'll soon find yourself sitting out on the back deck of this gorgeous location, relaxing maybe even taking a dip in the swimming pool to cool your heels in if you fancy. Your hosts will have the BBQ fired up in time to serve you a well deserved hearty meal with all the trimmings! 23 kilometres walkingDAY 5No rush this morning as we gather ourselves together aiming for a 9.00am departure.
