Just behind some of Queensland’s most popular coastal towns lies a chain of stunning mountains interlaced with waterfalls, crystal steams brimming with life and small artistic communities. Here we will walk the best sections of the recently opened Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk as well as exploring the Glass House Mountains and it’s surrounds. Our journey through this lush region of southeast Queensland gives us the best mix of rainforest walking and coastal exploring.
DAY 1
Our journey begins after we’ve collected everyone from a central location in Brisbane, the Roma Street Transit Centre. We embark on our journey north and before we get the walking underway, first let us serve you a terrific morning tea with views over looking the volcanic peaks of the Glasshouse Mountains. We take our lunches off to the Tibrogargan circuit walk where a series of short walks intermingle with lunch gets our walking exploits underway. The monumental volcanic remnants of this area are a fabulous introduction to the area and the views are superb. The walking here is straightforward with a few short climbs. Then it's time to make our way to the Mary Cairncross Reserve where the knowledge of a local guide will take us through this delightful rainforest walk revealing the secrets of this idyllic environment. We finish our day settling into our accommodation in the artistic hub of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland – Montville.
About our accommodation...
Our accommodation for our first three nights here is the Tree Houses of Montville. We use their single room bush cabins for guests who want a room all to themselves. Otherwise if you are happy to share they do have twin share bush cabins as well. The accommodation is very impressive with immense charm and very comfortable and well appointed. Each cabin has it's own bathroom and kitchenette facilities. It is in their delightful restaurant where we dine every evening as they arrange a well prepared set menu of mains and desert. Each guest is provided with their own breakfast provisions so that they can have breakfast at their own time. Lunches are prepared at the lodge used by the guides.

DAY 2
Time to start out on one of Queensland’s newest long distance walking routes, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Today’s walk begins at the walk’s very start at Baroon Pocket dam and takes us through unspoiled closed forest and allows the walker to experience the beauty of the Obi Obi Creek Gorge. There are lots of small bridge crossings as we meander through the lush rainforest surrounds and finish our days walking at the beautiful Kondalilla Falls. The Falls are right next door to our place of stay so you have the option of either doing more short walks yourself or retiring to your room for the afternoon.
Dinner this evening is back in our delightful restaurant.
12 kilometres walking with the option of a longer walk for those feeling suitably inspired and capable.

We’ll set a different pace today as we head off this morning to one of Queensland’s most famous markets, the Eumundi Market. You’ll be delighted at the rustic charm of Eumundi and we’ll spend a few hours here. Straight after lunch it will be time to head to Mt Tinbeerah for dramatic views all the way over to Noosa and Fraser Island. The early afternoon we'll head back to Mapleton for a short but challenging walk through Baxter Creek, complete with a new suspension bridge.
