This makes for a saving of $150.00! DAY 1Leaving Launceston at 8.00 am we head for the small town of Derby where a sumptuous morning tea awaits before we arrive for our lunchtime rendezvous in the Blue Tiers. This Tolkenesque landscape is full of enchantment as Tasmania’s unique flora and fauna put on a superb alpine display. We have a host of short walks lined up that will keep us happily trekking for up to four hours. The trails are well marked and gently graded. By late afternoon we will be settling into our place of stay in St Helens, a delightful seaside town on Tasmania’s east coast. About our accommodation ...Our accommodation here is in several well appointed and very recently constructed apartments. We are located 5 minutes drive from St Helens township. The upstairs balcony and dining area overlooks the bay and the evening sunset. No better place to recline with your travel companions and enjoy Park Trek’s famous hospitality with plenty of local fare and a great selection of bottled wines. The rooms have either twin share or double configurations so whether you are a couple or a solo traveller we can comfortably accommodate you. DAY 2Time today to head north and walk the most picturesque and remote section of the Bay of Fires. You can choose between the full day walk from Policemens Point to The Garden, all 14 kilometres. Otherwise we have a lighter option which takes in some of the trails in the nearby Binalong Bay finishing with the lower section of the Bay of Fires walk, meeting the rest of our fellow walkers as they complete their days walk. There’s time for swimming as the beaches are the most amazing aqua colour and will draw a happy walker in for a cooling dip. The evening is spent back at our place of stay where a shower and delicious evening meal awaits. DAY 3Freycinet National Park awaits us today so we head south for a few hours drive following this magnificent coastline past small beaches and jagged headlands. Our days walking gets underway mid – morning when we head out onto the Friendly Beaches for a 4 hour wander. Then a short walk around the spectacular Cape Touraville offers the eager photographer so many scenic opportunities and makes a great way to wrap our days wanderings. Time then to settle into our place of stay in the Iluka Holiday Units. About our accommodation ...Our accommodation in the Iluka Holiday Units is in twin room cabins. The location is right alongside Muirs Beach, overlooking the famous Hazards Peaks, in Coles Bay. Those wanting a room to themselves can have a room with a queen sized bed while those happy to share will have a room with two single beds. DAY 4Freycinet’s famous walk of 12 kilometres featuring Wineglass Bay is ours to explore today. Perhaps a lunchtime swim in the most azure coloured water that is such an iconic Tasmanian feature will beckon you. After our walk concludes mid-afternoon it will be time to head south to the town of Triabunna as we settle in to the Tandara Hotel Motel. You have the option of having your own room or else making a twin share arrangement. We’ll be here for 2 nights. DAY 5We’ll need to get away early this morning as we are taking the ferry across to Maria Island for a full day of walking. For those wishing to challenge themselves we have the walk up Bishop & Clerk. It is the best walk on Maria Island but also the most daunting and challenging. The reward for your efforts is simply the most stunning views of Freycinet to the north and Mount Wellington to the south west as well as the rest of Maria Island. For those seeking a more sedate day walk we will also be leading a shorter trip towards the sea cliffs of the northern part of the island and later returning to walk the painted cliffs around Darlington. DAY 6Time today to finally catch our breath. An hours drive into Hobart this morning sees us dropping in on the popular Salamanca Markets. We’ll drop you off for a few hours wandering in the picturesque harbour side location. Shortly after lunch we’ll drive to the top of Mt Wellington for our very last walk. The view from the top of Mt Wellington is an amazing view looking over a vast area. The walk from the peak down to Ferny Creek is an excellent way for our time away to come to an end. By late afternoon we’ll be dropping everyone back into Hobart. This trip usually finishes at 5.00pm. If you are flying out on the last day of the trip you will need to book your flight from 6.30pm onwards. Price: $ 1640 (ex-Launceston) (incl. GST) |
